John and Sherry Petersik, the husband-and-wife duo behind the DIY design blog Young House Love, had done little more than change a lightbulb when they bought their first house – a ranch-style fixer-upper in Richmond, Virginia – in the fall of 2006. Operating with a limited budget, a can-do attitude, and no formal training, John and Sherry began renovating their home and chronicling every step of their adventures (and misadventures) in total house transformation.
Six years later, Young House Love is so popular (1 million unique visitors per month) that Sherry and John have quit their day jobs to blog and dream up ideas full time. Their first book brims with easy, budget-friendly design ideas and projects, both classic and unexpected. None of these projects have previously appeared on the blog.
