March 9, 2011.
For three years, contemporary art filmmakers Wet Heat Project captured turning point moments and events in the career rise of ambitious, Miami-based conceptual artist Bert Rodriguez as he ventured beyond the hometown borders and penetrated a national and international art market.
On March 9, 2011 the Project’s feature documentary film “making sh*t up” will be presented as an official selection world premier at the Miami International Film Festival in the historic Tower Theater on Calle Ocho, just blocks from the apartment where the artist spent the first three years of his life, his parents’ first home in America after emigrating from Cuba.
The high-energy action moves through bustling art fairs and solo shows in Los Angeles, New York City, Miami and beyond to the solitary studio enclaves where the artist’s work comes into being, with on-camera visits to world-renown artists, critics, journalists and art professionals, and to a busy Miami street corner where a head injury nearly crushed the artist’s dreams.
