El Octavo Dia/The Eighth Day by Juan Calle From Apr 14th through May 5th, 2007Undercurrent Arts, located in Wynwood, is presenting a solo exhibition by Colombian artist Juan Calle featuring his most recent photographic works. The show consists of nineteen prints exhibited on the floor. The images reflect abstract red brush strokes captured in a scanner mixed with segments of google earth laying on a background of straight photography. All together, the images produce a paralyzing effect, probably due to their apocalyptic subject. For Calle, The Eighth Day means a second, an instant, such is the case of a nuclear blast, or on the contrary, many years, thousands perhaps of earth misuse by humans.
