From Oct 17th through Nov 14th, 2009.
Twenty Twenty Projects is currently presenting From Sea to Shining Sea, a solo exhibition by Justin H. Long. A Miami native, Long spent most of his youth racing sailboats and fishing in Biscayne Bay. This relationship with the ocean inherent with life in Miami, led him to his recent body of work, an exploration of nautical themes in contemporary art.
The exhibition follows a series of other similarly themed shows of Long’s such as Greetings from Paradise, (which explored ideas stemming from a tropical vacation) and The Coma off Point Loma, (based around the America Cup of 1988, an abnormally boring and unfair sailboat race). From Sea to Shining sea humorously relies upon Columbus Day Regatta wars, a rivalry between yacht clubs, and voyages on small vessels to connect contemporary art ideas with nautical culture. This will be Long’s first solo show in Miami.
