December 21st, 2008. 4:30 p.m. Trinity Cathedral’s 2008 Festival of Lessons and Carols Service features the pure voices of Florida’s Singing Sons Boychoir, conducted by Craig Denison, singing carols including Benjamin Britten’s celebrated masterpiece. The changed voices of Florida’s Singing Sons Boychoir and the Anglican Chorale of Southeast Florida will also participate.
The director of music at Trinity Cathedral, Matthew Steynor, himself a graduate from Cambridge University (from where this service originates), was one of fifty choral directors recently asked to participate in a survey by BBC Music Magazine to nominate five favorite carols. His first choice, No Small Wonder by Paul Edwards, which made it to the top twenty, will feature during the service, as well as the American contemporary classic Lux aurumque by Eric Whitacre.
