Calix Gustav Gallery is that hot new space that might have caught your eye on gallery night located right across the street from the Rubell Family Collection. Director Amanda Fernandez-Leon opened the gallery doors last October of 2009 and has since then implemented an aesthetic for the space that is very much her own.

Vistas: Landscapes Interpreted, on view at ArtSpace/Virginia Miller Galleries this month, offers a half-dozen widely varied artistic statements about one of art’s most common genres. Paintings of Wulf Barsch have been interpreted as “cosmic imagery” because his subject matter often combines geometrical, intellectual, and mystical elements with Egyptian and Islamic references.

Spinello Gallery presents Christina Pettersson
