Love and Oranges June 21st, 2007Floridian composers take a look at that most enduring of human emotions, love, in a special free Summer Solstice concert entitled Love and Oranges, presented at Plantation United Methodist Church located at 1001 NW 70th Avenue in Plantation on June 21st, at 7:30 p.m. The program will include poetry by William Shakespeare, Ben Jonson, Robert Herrick, Thomas Nashe, Emily Dickinson, and Constantin Cavafy set to music by composers Frederick Delius, Jake Heggie, and Michael Scherperel will provide a varied look at love. The concert features the premiere of Scherperel’s On Hearing of Love to be sung by baritone Thomas Cavendish with a string quintet. Also appearing are tenor Stephen Yanes singing Delius’s Four Old English Lyrics and soprano Sarah Weiner-Jamison presenting Jake Heggie’s Faces of Love.
