June 1st through July 9th, 2006The annual Summer Shorts Festival presented by City Theatre will open to the public this year with an extensive variety of events. The festival is devoted to fully produced World and Florida premieres of “short” original comedies, dramas and musicals running five to twenty minutes in length. Celebrating its 11th Annual Season, the festival will be held at the Ring Theatre in Coral Gables and Broward Center for the Performing Arts. With almost fourty performances, more than one hundred regional and national theatre artists, this summer events promises to be a city-wide stage for audiences of all ages. The festival is offering many options for kids and theater professionals in general. The Short Cuts for Kids, will allow the little ones to jump our of their school chairs and interact with young writers learning how to create a short play and taking it from the page to the stage. Another interesting program to take place during the Summer Shorts Festival will be City Dialogues. A community dialogue and guest artist series that will bring theatre artists, professionals and civic leaders together for free seminars, workshops, forums, readings and master classes.
