In partnership with Miami Jewish Film Festival, JMOF-FIU present this second in a three-part series of films featured in the movie posters on view in the current exhibition, CINEMA JUDAICA: The War Years, 1939-1949. GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT (20th Century Fox, 1947) received considerable pre-release opposition from several Jewish American organizations, and won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress. The plot depicts Protestant magazine reporter Phillip Green (Gregory Peck) posing as a Jew in order to observe, experience and expose the subtler forms of antisemitism in America.
