UM's Frost School of Music. Mar 30th and 31st, 2009. The University of Miami Frost School of Music continues the Stamps Family Distinguished Visitors Series with Anthony Davis, Dafnis Prieto, and Charles Koppleman: In Conversation, discussing their opera-in- progress, Revolution of Forms. The opera examines the rise and fall of Cuba’s National Art Schools. The work is presented through the eyes of architect Ricardo Porro, who helped design these national schools.
The creative team, Davis, Prieto and Koppleman, will visit the campus on Monday, March 30th at 8:00 p.m. for a Conversation on the genesis and development of Revolution of Forms. The conversation will be held at the Victor E. Clarke Recital Hall located at 5501 San Amaro Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
Excerpts from Revolution of Forms will be performed on Tuesday, March 31st at 8:00 p.m. by composer/jazz pianist Anthony Davis and composer/percussionist Dafnis Prieto at Gusman Concert Hall. Curated by Alan Johnson, program director of UM’s Frost Opera Theater, the performance will feature singers from the Florida Grand Opera Young Artist Program and UM faculty and alumni. Maurice Gusman Concert Hall, on the UM campus, is located at 1314 Miller Drive. The performance is free and open to the public.
