GableStage at the Biltmore Hotel. May 13th, 2008. 7:00 p.m.Hailed as a world-class trombone soloist, John Fedchock, joins the New World School of the Arts High School Jazz Ensemble, first place winner of the 2008 Swing Central National Jazz Band Competition and Festival. The 19-member NWSA ensemble, accompanied by the Grammy-nominee maestro, perform at GableStage located at 1200 Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables. A second performance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the Granada Presbyterian Church, located at 950 University Drive also in Coral Gables.
The concerts highlight Fedchock’s original compositions, introducing the Miami audience to his new repertoire. “A brilliant trombonist, composer and arranger, Fedchock has an intimate knowledge of how to share and develop his music with the students” commented Jim Gasior, Director of the Jazz Band at New World School of the Arts. “The students are ready and excited about the opportunity to work with such a talented musician from New York… especially since we will use some of his repertoire in our upcoming Jazz CD which is slated for release during the fall of 2008.”
