The talk of the modern jazz world, with his unique voice, virtuosic piano chops and dapper sense of style, Jon Batiste transcends music genres and has ignited the music scene. Raised among the sounds and rhythms of New Orleans, Batiste comes from a renowned lineage of performers. He is founder and leader of the Stay Human Band, a contemporary jazz ensemble noted for their world-class music, high energy and uplifting spirit. .
Deeply rooted in the musical traditions of his native New Orleans, where he grew up playing with his family’s well-known band, pianist/harmonaboardist Batiste has developed a uniquely current, uplifting, and playful brand of jazz that integrates his classical Juilliard training with contemporary mainstream sounds. He is currently touring with Stay Human, whose mission is to bring the joy of jazz to the masses, transforming each space they play by breaking down the barriers between audience and performer, and inviting people to experience the music as they never thought it could be played. They released their first studio album, Social Music, in October 2013.
