From Dec 3rd through Dec 7th, 2008. Miami’s original emerging art fair returns for it is seventh year expanded in size and global in reach, with 85 exhibitors from 28 countries, and a new 60,000 square foot pavilion. Our new location is centrally located in the Wynwood Art District, convenient to the Rubell Family Collection, the Margulies Collection, as well as Miami’s top galleries. Scope Miami is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Shuttle buses run daily to the Scope pavilion from The Standard Miami Beach, The Raleigh hotel and Art Basel Miami Beach.
Continuing its “Art Fair as Resource” mandate, Scope is proud to present the third Collector Mentorship Auction during Scope Miami 08. This unique event is designed to provide invaluable networking and educational opportunities for beginning collectors while promoting the philanthropic mission of the Scope Foundation. Scope’s first Collector Mentorship Auction featured established collectors Melva Bucksbaum, Bob Colacello, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Eileen and Richard Ekstract, John Friedman, Raymond Learsy, Arnold Lehman, Kim Levin, Adam Lindemann, Enrique Norten, Dennis Oppenheim, Lowell Pettit, Nancy Seltzer, Richard Stewart, Terrie Sultan, Rob Teeters, Jed Walentas, and Rick Wester. The donation of an hour of their time was bid on by young collectors from MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the Guggenheim Museum, The Parrish Museum, Guild Hall, and Core Club as an innovative means to shape and strengthen the art market.
Scope Miami 2008 builds on last year’s record breaking success by presenting one-person and curated statements, tours, screenings and special events alongside museum quality programming. The Scope Foundation will feature its third edition of Museum Presents, a non-commercial exhibition space in the Scope Pavillion. Past Museum Presents programming has focused on emerging contemporary art market trends from India, North Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Indonesia; Scope’s third edition of Museum Presents will feature Latin America.
