From January 11 through 31, 2013.
Rust and Bone (De rouille et d’os), the searing and powerful French drama, has impacted audiences and critics worldwide, from the Cannes film festival to its Golden Globe and Screen Actor Guild nominations. And you can see this emotionally gripping and surprising story of love and adversity exclusively in Miami only at the Coral Gables Art Cinema. From acclaimed filmmaker Jacques Audiard (A Prophet), Rust and Bone stars Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard (La vie en rose) and the magnetic and tough Matthias Schoenaerts.
Finding himself alone, broke and struggling to raise his young boy on his own, a some-time professional boxer (Schoenaerts), moves in with his sister in the south of France to start a brand new life. After a chance encounter, the wayward fighter begins a tentative friendship with a beautiful and aloof woman (Cotillard). Loosely adapted from short stories by Canadian writer Craig Davidson, Rust and Bone is a tense but heartwarming drama, which triumphs because of the frank physical chemistry between its two hugely charismatic stars. The film’s vivid contrast of brutality and tenderness is heightened by a musical score that includes clever use of pop songs like Katy Perry’s Firework.
