Guys and Dolls. From Apr 16th through Apr 26th, 2008.
The Ring Theatre at the University of Miami, located at 1312 Miller Drive in Coral Gables, is presenting the 50’s musical Guys and Dolls. Based on Damon Runyon’s short story “The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown,” Guys and Dolls revolves around Nathan Detroit, the organizer of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York, who bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson that he can’t make the next girl he sees fall in love with him. The next girl he sees happens to be Miss Sarah Brown, a pure-at-heart Salvation Army-type reformer, and the stage is set for a hilarious evening of complications.
This screwball romantic comedy soars with the spirit of Broadway. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana and even into the sewers of New York City. Funny and romantic, full of crooks, do-gooders and dames, Guys and Dolls is American musical theatre at its very best.
