Promethean Theatre, the company in residence at Nova Southeastern University, announces the beginning of their 2006-2007 season presenting the Florida premiere of After Ashley by Gina Gionfriddo from October 13th through November 5th, 2006.
In this funny and truthful satire, a teenage boy navigating the joys and terrors of life, is unwillingly thrust into the national spotlight when a family tragedy becomes talk-show fodder. Focusing a critical eye on the obsession with reality TV and public grieving, this play takes a no-holds barred look at how the American media blurs the line between reporting the truth and exploiting it. Later in 2007, from April through May, the company will present the world premiere of Red Tide written by Juan C. Sanchez and directed by Margaret M. Ledford. Carbonell nominated for last season’s acclaimed Buck Fever, Juan C. Sanchez is back with a brand new play. Dark and twisted, this three person drama promises to have the audience on the edge of their seats.
During the summer of 2007, the theatre announces Cyrano de Bergerac. Written by Edmond Rostand and directed by Margaret M. Ledfordm, this play is a classic swashbuckling tale of love and mistaken identity.
All performances will take place at the Mailman Hollywood Center located at 3301 College Ave., Ft Lauderdale, FL. on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sunday at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.
