Speakers:
Reggie Wilson, Artistic Director, choreographer and performer. Founder of the Fist & Heel Performance Group and creator of CITIZEN a contemporary piece that showcases the exploration of group and individual identity, history, and belonging.
Augusto Soledade, a 2008 Guggenheim Fellow, is the Founder Artistic Director and resident choreographer for Augusto Soledade Brazzdance, formally known as Brazz Dance Theater Incorporated, in Miami.
Cristina Favretto, is the Head of Special Collections at the University of Miami Libraries. She is a curator, a librarian, an archivist, a feminist, and an artist. She has had a shadow life as the lead singer in a post-punk cabaret band, a performance artist, and a political activist. She loves connecting artists of all types with rare books, manuscripts, archives, and historical materials, and watching the inspiration that ensues.
Dr. Jafari Allen, Associate Professor of African American Studies, and Anthropology; and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program Director of Graduate Studies, UM. Dr. Allen’s scholarship seeks to offer new or re- methods of narrative theorizing in anthropology, Black diaspora studies, and feminist and queer studies.
