Carlos Motta’s Histories for the Future provides narratives that shed light on the dynamics of contemporary forms of social oppression. At times working as an activist and educator, Motta engages forms of social education in his works. Motta’s works reconsider the conquest of the New World offering a new cartography that takes into account alternative histories.
Carlos Motta (b. 1978, Colombia)is graduated from the Whitney Independent Study Program. His work has been included in solo and group exhibitions at Tate Modern, London; Guggenheim Museum, New York; MoMA/PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art among others.
