Omayra Amaya is a part of a deep and proud Gypsy flamenco tradition, as the daughter of flamenco dancers Olga and Curro Amaya and the grandniece of Carmen Amaya.  Ms. Amaya first appeared on stage with her parents’ dance company, and by the age of 15 she was touring and performing internationally.  She attended Boston Conservatory, where she received a bachelor’s degree in dance and choreography.  She founded the Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company, which became the focus of various documentaries and movies.  In 2008, the company received various awards including a proclamation by The City of Miami declaring August 15 as The Omayra Amaya Day.  Omayra Amaya performed a duet with Steve Martin in the 2009 film Pink Panther 2, and in 2013 she performed in Lincoln Center with The New York Philarmonic.
