“Reformation” New World School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra celebrates its special annual Arsht Center concert under the baton of Maestro Alfred Gershfeld, featuring guest soloist Lynn Harrell! One of the most revered cellists of our time and a two-time Grammy Award recipient for records with Itzhak Perlman and Vladimir Ashkenazy, Harrell enjoys an active career both as a soloist with major symphony orchestras around the world as well as a pedagogue and masterclass clinician. He has served on the faculty of Rice University’s Shepard School of Music and Artistic Director of L.A. Philharmonic Institute. He is founder of HEARTbeats Foundation, a 501(c) charity in Los Angeles that strives to help children in need harness the power of music to better cope with, and recover from, the extreme challenges of poverty and conflict, in hope of creating a more peaceful, sustainable world for generations to come.
