Miami Unsigned is a new project of the Cultural Development Group created to promote and support all genres of music in the city. The group works towards the mission of improve Miami’s live music scene to a 100 percent Their strategy is to act as the driving force for communication between artists, venues, and the music industry at large. Artists should be afforded the professional work environment they deserve. Artist’s needs are availability of gigs, proper compensation, proper sound, and exposure. Venues provide the opportunity for access to quality live music. Proper conditions between the two will create the platform that will satisfy the general public’s demand for gaining access to live music.
The Cultural Development Group is also interested in helping establishments who have never thought of having live music by showing them how they can do so. Whether its jazz, classical, singer songwriter, rock, Latin or hip hop. There are establishments of different sizes that can handle certain avenues of music.
Miami has an abundance of untapped musical talent from all over the world and the public wants to see them perform. Yes there is marketing, yes there are sponsors, and yes there is money involved, however it is more of a grassroots approach. There is no way for them to be heard or make a living in Miami because they are overshadowed by club owners who are afraid of live music and more comfortable with electronic music (DJ’s), so artists move on.
The Cultural Development Group is working hard towards dramatically changing this reality. They are certain, like most of us that the public does want to see live music. If you don’t believe this for yourself, pass by the hip Soya e Pomodoro in downtown Miami every Friday evening to immerse yourself in the grooves of home – grown musicians. If you are an artist or venue and want to find out how you can get involved in Miami Unsigned, please contact the Cultural Development Group.
