2010 – 2011.
Nearly three hundred emerging and renowned artists from around the world will be featured by Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Art Gallery System (AGS) during exhibitions this upcoming academic year. The 2010 – 2011 season will present an extensive collection of contemporary art, while continuing to serve as a vehicle for enhancing education.
The new AGS season kicks off in September at the Freedom Tower at MDC with the Past is History – Future is Mystery exhibition, which takes a look at totalitarianism across the world. Other major exhibitions will include Sculpt Miami during Art Basel and smART exhibition and art sale in commemoration of MDC’s 50th anniversary, among others. Several installations are being added in the coming weeks.Â
The College’s AGS is a completely integrated museum-classroom-conservatory network that offers visual arts in every possible format. It has more than 55,000 square feet of exhibition space in its galleries, public art spaces and MDC’s Freedom Tower in downtown Miami.
Presenting more than 24 projects and exhibitions, the AGS follows the latest trends in contemporary art by new generations of South Florida artists and College students, as well as its mission to bring a global perspective of art through exhibitions of relevant artists. The AGS also continues to include as an important part of its programming exhibitions that reference key moments in the history of art. MDC gallery exhibitions are free and open to the public.
