Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. February 18, 2012. 2:00 p.m.
It’s that time of the year when Miami City Ballet School students grace the stage of the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House to present Ballet for Young People. This one-show-only performance takes place on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. All tickets are free!
This year’s Ballet for Young People features advanced students from Miami City Ballet’s prestigious school performing the delightful Carnival of the Animals – The Swansong, an original story ballet co-created and choreographed by Miami City Ballet School faculty Geta Constantinescu and Rafi Maldonando-Lopez. The ballet tells the story of the fragility of Earth’s creatures and the role of humans in caring for our planet.
While people of all ages can enjoy the ballet, the storyline was carefully designed to engage young audiences to introduce children to the art form and the theatre experience. Every child will receive a “kid friendly” book with information about the ballet and the artists, puzzles, coloring pages and more so the experience is both entertaining and educational. The one-hour performance is a wonderful afternoon for the entire family – certain to make dance fans out of children who have never seen a live performance.
This is a free event. Complimentary tickets (Free First-Access Passes) may be reserved in person at the Adrienne Arsht Center box office, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, by calling 305.949.6722 or online at www.arshtcenter.org. Patrons who do not reserve passes in advance can join the stand-by line beginning at 1:00 p.m. and will be seated at 1:45 p.m. if seats are still available.
