The renowned Uruguayan harpsichord duo, Nives and Laura Dearmas will perform the works of noted Spanish composer Padre Antonio Soler. Their program will include the famous priest’s six harpsichord sonatas written in the late 18th century. The concert will be presented as part of the Spanish government’s celebration of Spanish Heritage Month and its presence in Florida for 500 years.
Spain’s international cultural agency, Acción Cultural Española, is also presenting an interactive traveling exhibition ‘A Tres Bandas,’ illustrating the development of music in Latin America from its Spanish, Native American and African roots to be shown at the Cultural Center of Spain in Miami. This is its first presentation in the continental United States. Centro Cultural de España en Miami is cooperating with the Bach Society for this event by co-sponsoring a reception and guided tour of the exhibit for Bach Society members and donors, preceding the concert.
The concert is to be held at 4:00 p.m. and will be at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Miami. Tickets are $30 general admission and $40 preferred seating. Students 18 years old and younger are admitted free of charge.
