A concert/ dance party series in the Koubek Center Gardens featuring pre-concert dance lessons, specialty cocktails and food vendors, open dance floor, DJ, incredible live bands & more! Come mix & mingle and dance under the Miami moonlight! The living legends of Peruvian cumbia resurrect the sound they made famous in the 1960s—playing the classics of their heyday as well as stylistically- faithful new compositions.
When the wave of counter-culture reached Peru in the 1960’s, musicians incorporated psychedelic surf guitar sounds into their local cumbia, giving birth to a genre known as cumbia Huaracha, or Peruvian cumbia. The phenomenon spread from Lima’s urban center to the most remote towns of the Amazon, and became part of the national identity.
Eight former members of the country’s iconic chicha bands have joined up five decades later to revive these delirious melodies with their bold guitar sounds, jolting rhythms, looping grooves, and propulsive beats.
