From Jan 7th through 30th, 2010.
Marathon Community Theatre is presenting the second production of the season, Sylvia, written by A. R. Gurney. Husband, Greg, finds a cute, frisky dog named Sylvia, according to her tag, in the park and excitedly takes her home to meet his wife, Kate. Surprisingly, Kate is not so enamored with Sylvia as is her finder. As Sylvia immediately begins to worship Greg, trouble ensues between Greg and Kate and the fun begins. If you own a dog, have never owned a dog, love a dog, detest dogs, or have ever seen a dog, you’ll love this production.
The play is directed by Alicia Merel, produced by Claudia McEwen and features a cast you will recognize from some of our funniest productions. Greg is played by Bob Rowand; Kate, is played by Jennifer Mixon-Eick; Sylvia, the dog, is appropriately portrayed by Sylvia Rickett. J. C. Dedieu takes on a challenging role personifying three characters, Tom, a philosophical dog-lover; Phyllis, an old classmate of Kate’s; and Leslie, a marriage counselor.
Sylvia opens January 7th and runs through January 30th with performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays beginning promptly at 8:00 p.m. A Sunday matinee is scheduled for January 17th at 3:00 p.m.
