Artist in Residency. Ongoing.
Leonor Murciano was born in Havana, Cuba. In 1960, together with her parents and eight brothers and sisters, exiled to Spain and resided in Asturias and Madrid. In 1968, the family moved permanently to Miami, Florida.
Leonor portrays realism in her oil paintings emphasizing in light and color. She is fundamentally self-taught. Her passion and ability to create have shown since a small age. Her work is very versatile, from her still lives, landscapes and the portraying of people from different cultures and ethnic groups. The “nostalgic” composition of her Cuban Series Collection, a trademark of Leonor, depicts her experiences as a Cuban in exile, and has given her great accomplishments especially in the Florida community. Works by Leonor Murciano are permanently displayed at her art gallery in Coral Gables.
