Karen Peterson announces a 10-week Dance Program for children with special needs that culminates in a family performance at the Excello Dance Space. Children with learning and physical special needs are invited to participate in this ten-week workshop starting September 15th, 2008.
This creative class will introduce children to the fundamentals of contemporary dance using props, instruments and music as inspiration. We will focus on positive body awareness, natural creativity, teamwork, motor co-ordination, personal expression, discipline and self control. Through the use of adaptive movement, music, props, mats and equipment, the students will come together for a final demonstration on November 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Karen Peterson's Excello Dance Space.
Four of the Peterson company members, experienced in “mixed-ability” creation, performance and teaching “mixed-ability” dance will offer 8 one hour classes per week for children 5-20 years.
