Artist Christie van der Haak is wrapping The Wolfsonian’s iconic facade and lobby with her signature tapestry and batik-inspired patterns, The Hague-based contemporary artist creates a striking encounter with contemporary Dutch design. Paired with nightly projections, van der Haak’s project brings the legacy of Dutch design pioneers into full public view for Miami Art Week 2016 and beyond
Originally a painter, Van der Haak (Netherlands) moved on to designing fabrics deployed both as autonomous artworks and upholstery, wall coverings, table-cloths and the like. While operating in the field of tension between art and design, she was awarded with Ouborg Award in 2015.
