Coral Gables Art Cinema. From May 10 through 16, 2013.
The Coral Gables Art Cinema presents the Exclusive Miami Premiere of noted French director François Ozon’s In The House (Dans la maison). Oscar nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient) gives a tour de force performance in a French-language role in this off-center, psychological cat-and-mouse-game. Full of the dark humor, sly manipulation of points-of-view, and sexuality outside-the-box that Ozon is known for – previous films include 8 Women and Swimming Pool – In the House has already played at the Toronto International Film Festival and San Sebastian International Film Festival. The film will screen in 2K Digital Cinema Projection.
Part thriller, part mystery, In the House also stars well-known French actor Fabrice Luchini, as a bored, misanthropic high-school literature teacher, with Thomas as his high-toned gallery-owning wife. He becomes fascinated by the creative-writing exercises being turned in by one of his male students, the charismatic, handsome and too smart for everyone’s good Claude, played by the young Ernst Umhauer. Claude is obsessed with the seemingly perfect suburban family of a well-off classmate; with his teacher; and eventually his teacher’s wife, as the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur.
