Carlos Garaicoa’s Episode #3 takes place at Saludarte Foundation / Ideobox Artspace as the third solo project of the 2014 Uprooting Architecture exhibition series, in collaboration with Universidad de Los Andes and the National Media Museum (UK). In line with his researching process, Carlos Garaicoa’s proposal confronts the critical relationship between citizenship and the contemporary cities scales. The exhibition features a site-specific wall drawing series, along with newly produced collection of marble and crystal sculptures, and The Old and The New series which is integrated by a group of twelve French engravings of the 19th century. Episode #3 is the first solo project by Carlos Garaicoa in Miami. The issues of scale determine the human, social and political conditions of the contemporary citizen as a user of the current urbe. This analitical practice turns the exhibition into a permanent diagnosis on the urban imageries of time and history, but mainly, on the distance from which the different social collectives make use of the city resources.
