Ongoing at Opera Gallery. Printed Images.
Opera Gallery, located at Bal Harbour Shops, is presenting the exhibition Printed Images by Helene Guetary and Guy Le Baube. Helene Guetary is a Renaissance woman, having worked as a film director, painter, illustrator, photographer and writer. As a young artist she created a series of sculptures for the Pompidou Museum in Paris. In the 1980’s Guetary moved to New York where she published a book of photos called Skin Deep, featuring fantasy images juxtaposing body painting and costuming. With a grant from the Polaroid Foundation, Guetary continued to explore images using print, video, drawings and writing.
Whether in Paris or New York, award-winning photographer Guy Le Baube has received praise for his editorial work in the world of fashion magazines. In the early 90's, Guy Le Baube transcended the commercial realm with a private collection of photographs, Behind the Scene. Glamorous, sexy and playful Le Baube's work is bold and surprising; and his nude portraits are punctuated by a witty, tongue-in-cheek humor.
