From February 13 through 28, 2013.
The Go! Shop and the Wynwood Walls present Go! Sticker – the first installment of the Go! Show series of special collaborative exhibitions. Go! Sticker is a collaborative project and is curated by Bomit (Z James).
Sticker art (also known as sticker bombing, sticker slapping, slap tagging and sticker tagging) is a form of street art in which a message is publicly displayed using stickers. As with all forms of art, these stickers may promote a political agenda, comment on a policy or issue, or comprise a subcategory of Graffiti.
Inspired by graffiti, posters and the community like culture of the internet, stickers are receiving more attention as an artistic phenomenon. Hand drawn, stenciled or screen-printed, these images make their way around the world – from one “sticker head” to the next, one cultural context to another, their meanings continuing to morph but ultimately always in support of the art of the sticker.
Go! Sticker is a celebration of this art form, an exhibition of the greatest sticker artists of all time, and an extravaganza to support this subversive and mass- produced medium. Go! Sticker consists of a large-scale sticker installation, a sticker fair from which stickers can be purchased, and special programming inspired by the art of the sticker.
From February 19 through 28, the exhibition is open Thursday through Saturday 12:00 – 8:00 p.m.
