A Behanding in Spokane by Martin McDonagh

The title is just the starting point; take a man searching for his missing hand, two con artists out to make a few hundred bucks, and an overly curious hotel clerk, and the rest is up for grabs. This hilarious black comedy is by the author of two works that won Best Play Carbonell Awards at GableStage – The Pillowman (2006) and Lieutenant of Inishmore (2007).

A Round-Heeled Woman My Late-Life Adventures in Sex and Romance by Jane Prowse

This play is adapted from the book by Jane Juska Starring Sharon Gless, multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress (Burn Notice Queer as Folk and Cagney and Lacey). A retired schoolteacher who has not had sex in 30 years sets out to remedy the situation by placing an ad in the personals in the New York Review of Books. Her sexual adventures and the resulting emotional entanglements are both comic and touching. This is the true story of a woman who decides that there is still time to pursue passion with a vengeance.

A new comedy-drama from the author of two plays that were hugely successful at GableStage – Killer Joe (2000) and Bug (2004) – and the Pulitzer Prize winning August: Osage County. An offbeat friendship grows between a cantankerous white shop owner and an ambitious black teenager with something to hide. Amidst the changing face of an old Chicago neighborhood, a local donut shop becomes the setting for old secrets and new beginnings, and the redemptive power of friendship.

A comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity. In the 1880’s a new medical device is developed to treat and pacify “hysterical” women, but it unknowingly produces a very different result. Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Sarah Ruhl, author of The Clean House and Dead Man’s Cell Phone, shares this story of repressed sexuality and physical exploration with equal doses of humor and emotion.

The Brothers Size by Tarell Alvin McCraney

Set in the Louisiana bayous, the play explores the struggles of two brothers who walk the line between law and liberty, locked in a fierce tug-of-war for their souls. This is the first Southeastern production of a play by this 28-year old Miami native and New World High School graduate, whose plays are thrilling worldwide audiences by pushing the boundaries of language, form, and sexuality in provocative and poetic ways.
