The Florida Guitar Foundation hosts its third annual guitar competition on March 16 and 17, 2019, featuring evening performances by Pavel Steidl, and Aniello Desiderio.
The highly acclaimed Pavel Steidl will kick-off the 2019 Classical Guitar Competition on March 16 at Clarke Recital Hall. Since his first prize at the Radio France International Competition in Paris in 1982, Steidl, known for his performances on period instruments, has become one of the most widely celebrated soloists of his generation, and currently enjoys a busy career as a soloist and teacher.
You will also not want to miss the virtuoso display of Italian guitarist, Aniello Desiderio closing the 2019 Classical Guitar competition on March 17.
The competition will feature over 30 guitarists from different countries, and will award the following prizes:
Adult Division
- 1st Prize: $3,500 + a classical guitar built by Costa Rican luthier David Chaves Barrantes valued in $4,000.
- 2nd Prize: $1,500
- 3rd Prize: $750
- Umbra Guitar Support provided by Sagework
- Products donated by Augustine Strings and D’Addario.
Youth Division
- 1st Prize: $500
- 2nd Prize: $300
- 3rd Prize: $200
- Umbra Guitar Support provided by Sagework
- Products donated by Augustine Strings and D’Addario.
All competition rounds are open to the public, free of charge.
