Cast members from Florida Grand Opera’s current production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly will perform selections from some of the world’s best-loved operas, accompanied by FGO Resident Conductor Andrew Bisantz. The singers will include soprano Shu-Ying Li, who is currently performing the title role of Madama Butterfly, soprano Kate Mangiameli, who performs Kate Pinkerton, baritone Jake Gardner, who sings the American consul Sharpless, and tenor Jeffrey Halili, who performs the role of Goro, the marriage broker. Justin Moss, FGO’s Managing Director for Public Relations and Community Affairs, will introduce the artists and the musical selections.
FGO General Director Robert M. Heuer stated, “This is a tremendous opportunity for the public to hear these really outstanding artists, and we’re extremely pleased to be able to work with the Bass Museum of Art, the Collins Park Neighborhood Association, and SocialMiami.com for publicity to make this event happen. The public’s response to our production of Madama Butterfly has been wildly enthusiastic, and we’re delighted that several of the artists have happily agreed to sing for the people of Miami Beach.”
