Elio’s Quartet is the winner of the 2009 International Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba. The Quartet consists of talented musicians such as Livan Mesa on piano and keyboard, Yunior Arronte on saxophone and keyboard, Yorgis Goiricelaya on bass, and Elio Piedra on drums. All of these musicians have enjoyed a successful career in the music’s industry, and have experienced music at the national and the international level.
Elio Piedra’s Quartet was founded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Quartet’s purpose was to introduce an innovative mixture of styles and sounds, ranging from Smooth Jazz, Gospel, Swing, and Funk, to Classical Music. The Quartet’s roots lies in AfroCuban Latin Jazz, from which they derive their unique rhythms.
