at the Poltrona Frau Showroom. From Dec 5th through Dec 9th, 2007.
Mundus Vivendi, a collective of 15 emerging designers from the Naples area will present an exhibition at the Poltrona Frau showroom in the Miami Design District. The exhibition will invite visitors to discover how environmental factors can affect how a space or object is perceived. Interior Design will be on view from December 5th to 9th, 2007 at the Poltrona Frau showroom located at 10 NE 39th Street. The exhibition title Interior Design has a dual meaning. It refers to both the design of the exhibition space and the incorporation of the artwork on display into that design, but also suggests that the visitor’s individual reading of the exhibition is an essential component of the experience. The project is designed to promote and support the Campania region’s artistic community both domestically and internationally.
The objects and furniture on view are created from traditional materials such as glass, ceramic, wood, wrought iron, and fabric. They are tied together through the common themes of the four elements – water, earth, air, and fire – and the inspiration of Mount Vesuvius, one of the Campania’s major geographical landmarks. However, although the artwork is linked thematically, the innovative use of light will allow each visitor to experience an independent emotional response to the presentation. Light will skew perception, challenging the traditional understanding of an object as static and discrete from its environment.
