Performance and Interactive Works From Apr 14th through May 9th, 2007Miami based artist David Rohn has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, Brook Dorsch and Kevin Bruk Galleries. Known for incorporating performance art into his work, Rohn has also been recognized for pieces such as Katzenjaimmer Kollection and Le Chateau Del Pueblo. His new creations use multiple canvases of composite paintings to create sculptural objects. Familiar figurative images are arranged into geometrically abstract forms, examining 2 and 3-dimensional spatial representation, abstraction and figuration and subject and object. The performance aspect of Rohn’s exhibition introduces the character of Brunte Klaus – a fictitious critic and curator to Miami collectors Herb and Kitty Katzenjammer, first featured in an artist’s show back in 2003. His performance is intended as a parallel event that highlights his interest in reconstituting familiar conditions to yield insight and meaning from them. The exhibition will open to the public on April 14th, 2007 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Buena Vista Building located at 180 NE 39th Street in Miami Design District.
