From May 20th through May 27th, 2006The Frost Art Museum will host the annual presentation of the Cintas Foundation Emelio Sanchez Award in Visual Arts and the Cintas Foundation Award in Architecture. The event will feature an exhibition of works by the finalists for this year’s competition, plus a presentation on this years lifetime achievement winners in Architecture Ricardo Porro and Max Borges The event will open on Saturday May 13th and will serve as the platform on May 20th the Cintas Foundation will announce the 2006 Fellowship winner. The award exhibition will run through May 22th, 2006. Since 1963, the Cintas Fellowships have honored over 300 artists including Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Oscar Hijuelos, photographer Andres Serrano and filmmaker Mari Rodriquez-Ichaso among many others. The Cintas Foundation was established with funds from the estate of Oscar B. Cintas (1887-1957), former Cuban ambassador to the United States, prominent industrialist and patron of the arts.
