Meet Jewel Stern and John A. Stuart May 31st, 2007Authors Jewel Stern and John A. Stuart will be hosting an evening at Books & Books Coral Gables to present their recent book Ely Jacques Kahn, Architect: Beaux-Arts to Modernism in New York, which was winner in 2006 of the New York City Book Awards. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, he was known for his modern polychrome decoration and setback skyscrapers. Jewel Stern is an artist, art historian, and independent curator. She is the author of Modernism in American Silver: 20th-Century Design and an essayist in Craft in the Machine Age: 1920-1945. John A. Stuart teaches at Florida International University.
