Jewish Museum. Jan 31st, 2010. 2:00 p.m.
Author Linda Corley will review her book, The Kennedy Family Album at the Jewish Museum of Florida this January 31st at 2:00 p.m. Bob Davidoff, whose studio was in Palm Beach, took all the photographs. For decades the public has been fascinated with the Kennedy family. Now, for the first time, Davidoff’s Kennedy photos of their days in Florida, as well as in other favorite getaway spots, have been collected in this book. This is truly a unique and unstaged portrait of “America’s royal family.”
For nearly 50 years, until his death in 2004, Davidoff had chronicled the extended Kennedy clan at their Palm Beach home. Daryl, the youngest of Davidoff’s sons, remembers going with his father to Green’s Pharmacy to eat breakfast and wait for the Kennedy limousine to pull up across the street at their church. “Rose would be there with the whole gang and she would say ‘hello’ and pose for pictures for my Dad,” said Daryl. “Rose didn’t pose for just anyone. That is what makes this book different. They were friends.” The Kennedys also allowed Davidoff access to their home. His widow, Babe, and Daryl now run the family business, Davidoff Studios, and they will be at this event to represent the photographer and answer questions.
An Emmy Award-winning writer, Corley will provide anecdotes behind the pictures that capture many of the family’s unscripted moments. She has produced and written national television programs for PBS for more than 20 years. Corley lives in Fort Lauderdale.
