Historical Museum of Southern Florida. October 27th, 2009. 7:00 p.m.
The Historical Museum of Southern Florida presents a Lincoln Reading event to discuss Ronald White’s A. Lincoln Biography, October 27th at 7:00 p.m. The free book discussion is part of several community-wide events planned in Miami exploring the life and presidency of Abraham Lincoln.
2009 marks the bicentennial of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. Miami is one of several cities across the nation celebrating his life through museum exhibitions, educational programs, visual arts and, most notably, book readings. During the month of October, museum visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a special exhibition, Florida in the Time of Lincoln. The exhibition includes images and objects from area collectors, Norman Braman, Robert Brockway, and Frances X. Sexton, Jr., relating to Lincoln and his impact on Florida.
The Reading Group discussion is sponsored by museum members, Jean and Bill Soman in partnership with Books and Books, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Florida Humanities Council, and the National Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
