San Diego, California. From Sep 2nd through 4th, 2009.
Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair is dedicated to exploring new contemporary art practices from this region and beyond. San Diego with its close proximity to Mexico is a natural arena to stage the first bi-national art fair on the West Coast, and the best city to present an objective representation of the overlapping art activity that is taking place along the Pacific Rim.
One of the goals of the Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair is to provide a forum to showcase the collective artistic talent from this region alongside the talent of international artists. Additionally, the fair aims to foster, in a pro-active fashion, the importance of international art and cultural leadership and intercultural dialogue.
Partnering with San Diego’s and Tijuana’s leading cultural institutions and showcasing numerous artists/galleries from Mexico, California and beyond, the event strives to become the leading and most significant West Coast fair.
San Diego’s first Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair (BTB) is a 3-day event that will include national and international galleries featuring over 500 works by jury-selected established and emerging contemporary artists from all over the world. The fair will be held in The Grand Del Mar’s expansive ballroom. The public is invited to attend the event, which marks the first time these national and international galleries with investment-grade art will be presented in San Diego.
