Coral Gables Art Cinema. From June 7 through 20, 2013.
One of the most anticipated films of the summer, Before Midnight, will begin its South Florida First Run Engagement at the Gables Cinema on Friday, June 7, in 2K Digital Cinema Projection. The talk of the Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals, acclaimed U.S. filmmaker Richard Linklater’s third installment of what is now an “indie-series” (previous chapters were the beloved Before Sunrise and Before Sunset) continues the engaging and very real tale of love between two strangers. However, now they are a committed couple with all the attendant tensions, joys and comedy of real life relationships. French actress Julie Delpy and big-screen star Ethan Hawke, co-authors of the film’s screenplay as well, give stellar performances that bring their craft to a new level.
In Before Midnight we meet Celine and Jesse nine years after their last rendezvous, and almost two decades since their very first encounter on a train bound for Vienna. They are in their early forties, living in a very picturesque Greece, with children in tow. As Jesse and Celine have matured, so has their bond and candor – familiarity, life’s ups and downs and time itself have changed and deepened their connection. Witty, heartfelt, and comic all at once, Before Midnight is an intimate take on committed love and the work and pleasure of sustaining a long-term relationship.
Tickets for all regular screenings are $11.50 and under. All tickets are available for purchase in advance on the Cinema’s website at www.gablescinema.com or in person at the box office during regular screening hours.
