Walls Without Boundaries. From Sep 13th through Oct 3rd, 2008. The Bakehouse Art Complex (BAC) announces the opening of the exhibition "Walls Without Boundaries". On display will be recent works by over fifteen Bakehouse Art Complex artists. Through Miami’s hundreds of square miles of sprawl, lack of center, collage of neighborhoods and diversity of architecture; individualism and hybridism has emerged. Walls without Boundaries reflects the city’s heterogeneity through the look of art where no dominant style has prevailed and no major movement has been named.
Art has always been classified and studied in specific movements and periods. These movements, in retrospect, had influence over what the artists of its time produced. But what is to occur when no dominant style is prevalent? Miami has answered this question by taking various methods, and approaches to the making of art. Using the ever-changing skyline of Miami as inspiration for diversity; a movement of individualism has surfaced. Embracing this time of artistic boundlessness, are exhibiting collaborative artists Jennifer Basile, and Ingrid Eliasson. "The fast-growing and multi-cultural city is happening everywhere in the world. As collaborative artists, we work in this cultural hybridism with appropriate images constructing the current landscape of Miami and its community." This exhibition highlights the diverse methods, and styles of Miami’s artists.
