Bajofondo in Concert

The Rhythm Foundation. October 14th, 2008. 8:00 p.m. The Rhythm Foundation. Miami MusicBajofondo, the Argentine-Uruguayan collective, unites classic tango with the grooves of club culture, dub rhythms, and video projections. The eight-member group, led by Oscar and Grammy winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Motorcycle Diaries, Amores Perros, Brokeback Mountain) and producer Juan Campodonico, performs at the Fillmore Miami Beach on Tuesday October 14th, 2008.

Bajofondo is the nexus of a creative powerhouse.  The tentacles of the group’s individual components reach out into the coolest and most innovative aspects of Latin music and culture. But when the collective comes together to record and tour as Bajofondo, the sum is even greater than the whole of the talented parts. It is the sound of the hottest club in Buenos Aires late at right, and right now. A joyous, but complex mix of tango, dub, drum&bass, dance beats and jazz. Live, the show features the live projections of DJ Veronica Loza.

Santaolalla is one of the top alt-Latino music producers and composers; a singer, guitarist and director of Surco Records, with a list of artists he has produced pages long –  Juanes, Julieta Venegas, De La Guarda, Juana Molina, Kronos Quartet, Antonio Carmona. With his project Café de los Maestros he has produced some of the most significant living legends of tango.  Producers/Djs and keyboardists Campo and Supervielle have also enormous reach into the creative world of Latin music. They have recently worked with artists like Jorge Drexler, Ximena Sarinana.

Live, Bajofondo is comprised of Gustavo Santaolalla in guitar, percussion, and vocals, Juan Campodónico programming, beats, samples, and guitar, Luciano Supervielle in piano, keyboards, DJ, Javier Casalla in violin, Martín Ferrés: bandoneon, Gabriel Casacuberta: upright bass and electric bass, Adrián Sosa in drums and Verónica Loza VJ and vocals

The group visits Miami en route from an Asian tour to promote their new CD Mar Dulce. The new project, like their 2005 debut, features deep grooves, impeccable tango chops, sophisticated arrangements and very cool collaborations.  Guest singers include Julieta Venegas, La Mala Rodriguez, Elvis Costello and some classic singers. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster outlets or the Fillmore Miami Beach box office.
