Join Tigertail on Wednesday, October 10, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wynwood Walls, for another lively Season Kickoff Party. The event is free. The 2012-2013 season’s slogan is Art Out Loud, and the party may just live up to that at times, especially when the Brazilian Forró music amps up. This year’s Tigertail Kickoff Party will be held in memory of Tony Goldman, without whom the Wynwood Walls and so many other of Miami’s gems would not have been possible.
Party Performances will begin with the fabulous teen poets Maylin Enamorado, Diego Mosquera and Brianna Woods from Tigertail’s WordSpeak team, hot from Brave New Voices in San Francisco. Nu Flamenco guitarist Jose Luis Rodriguez will dazzle party guests with his brilliance. Then party will heat up with Forr (pronounced foh), burning hot dance music from Northeast Brazil that galvanized NYC this past summer. Experienced Forró dancers will teach party guests the steps. Throughout the evening, film loops will be shown by Barron Sherer – who has one of the largest stocks of unusual films in all of Florida.
Party attendees all have the opportunity to win prizes and season tickets, and can end the evening with dinner. Wrist bracelet guests of the Tigertail Kick Off party receive 15% discount for dinner at Joey’s or Wynwood Kitchen and Bar.
