Levitation and Gravitas by artist Michael Namkung, is an exploration of flying, floating and falling. In this site-specific work, Namkung creates a 3-dimensional sound piece that channels an apparition of his body floating.
The New Past by artist Gustavo Oviedo focus on nautical landmarks, Oviedo has embarked on a thorough examination of local sites by gathering historical accounts in addition to visiting and documenting them personally. His meta-displays collapse official historical and geological research with colorful memorabilia such as antique prints, maps, tourist souvenirs, and lighthouse replicas.
Studio Portraits by artist Oliver Wasow is a photographic series of individuals or groups posed in front of painted backdrops. These photos are the first Wasow has done that have included people. Wasow has exhibited at the Josh Baer Gallery and Janet Borden Gallery in New York City, Tom Solomon Gallery in Los Angeles, The South Eastern Center for Contemporary Art in North Carolina, and Galerie De Poche in Paris, among others.
Light Out of Darkness by artist Santiago Rubino shows the artist’ draftsmanship and razor-edged precision in executing geometric perspective and line contribute to the timeless quality of his figurative portraits. His characters command a distinctive poise, evoking the regal air of a Victorian-era portrait sitter.
Sailing to Byzantium by artist Nina Surel translates William Butler Yeats’ poetic allegory of aging into an imaginary physical and spiritual journey using sculpture, installation, sound, and video. Surel’s works have frequently involved the use of resin to embalm ornaments and decorative elements that are suggestive of nature made artificial: flowers, birds, plants.
