Cinema 2 at the Wolf. July 18th, 2008. 7:00 p.m.The Wolfsonian Museum presents its ongoing documentary film series titled Cinema 2 at the Wolf organized in collaboration with WPBT – Channel 2. These evenings of screenings are free and open to the public starting at 7:00 p.m. On July 18th, 2008, Cinema 2 at the Wolf presents Pete Seeger, The Power of Song from the series American Masters (2008, USA, Kristy Anderson, 90 min, b&w and color, DVD).
Eighty-eight-year-old folk singer Pete Seeger, known for such rousing songs as “If I Had a Hammer” and “Waist Deep in the Big Muddy,” recalls the spirit of fortitude and hope of the early civil rights movement. This documentary explores Seeger’s lifetime of political activism from the 1950s anti- Communist witch-hunts through today’s protests against the war in Iraq.
